Annie “Ann” Lee O’Shields Dunaway, of Enoree, SC was called to her eternal home peacefully in the morning of April 24, 2020 at NHC of Clinton. She was the wife of the late Leroy Dunaway and the daughter of the late Deedie C. and Nellie Frances Scarborough O’Sheilds. Mrs. Dunaway was born May 9, 1928 in Buffalo, SC. Her life of 91 years was well lived and she was well loved by everyone that knew her. She was a 1985 graduate of Spartanburg Methodist College and a retiree from DHEC as a certified nursing assistant and was a member of Enoree First Baptist Church. This kind, loving and precious woman left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be missed greatly by her three children Martha Dunaway Sontag (Hal), Steve Dunaway, and Deedie Dunaway (Patty). Family was the most important aspect of her life and she was proud and honored to be the nannie to four grandchildren Brew Dunaway (Tracy), Lee Sontag, Jennifer Sontag Floria (Tim), Kevin Sontag (Michele), six great-grandchildren Jessie Dunaway, Paige Sontag, Caleb Gillespie, Garrett Sontag, Sam Gillespie, Nic Parsons and many nieces and nephew. In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by two sisters Mary Nell Baldwin, Virginia Hyatt, two brothers Jack and Gene O’Shields. Ms. Dunaway will lie in state Sunday, April 26, 2020 between the hours of 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for family and friends to pay their respects at JK Yarborough Mortuary. A private family graveside services will be held Monday, April 27, 2020 at Greenhaven Memorial Park with Rev. Andy Moore, Rev. Gene Lockaby and her grandson Kevin Sontag officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Enoree Baptist Church 1150 Parker Rd. Enoree, SC 29335 or charity of one’s choice.
