Jody began his career in funeral service right out of Woodruff High School. He became an apprentice with the then- Forest-Lawn Mortuaries in Woodruff, Boiling Springs, and Chesnee, SC. He graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in 1997, and since then has worked in every area of funeral service possible. He earned his pre-need insurance license in 2014.
During his career, he has managed five different funeral homes and a cemetery - two simultaneously. He has worked for both funeral service corporations and family-owned businesses. He has handled all areas of funeral home management, including, but not limited to, finance management, sales, product management, customer service, employee supervision, and office management. He continues to help his colleagues in the funeral industry through trade embalming and transport.
Jody is a long-time member of both the National and South Carolina Funeral Directors' Association, and he has coached the local Little League baseball and football teams. He enjoys playing golf, hunting, and fishing, and loves to watch any kind of sports.
Erin Gaston Yarborough was born and raised in Woodruff, South Carolina. Erin is the daughter of Alan and Trudy Lida Gaston of Woodruff, and the granddaughter of Mary Harris Bennett Gaston and the late Joe Gaston of Woodruff, and the late James "Red" and Mae Parker Lida of Enoree. After graduating from Woodruff High School, Erin attended Clemson University and the University of South Carolina Spartanburg, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. She later earned a Master's of Education Degree from Southern Wesleyan University, and PITC certification from the University of South Carolina.
Erin is a master certified teacher. and is an adjunct instructor at Greenville Technical College and Spartanburg Community College. She works as Training Coordinator for the South Carolina Center for Childcare Career Development. Over their twenty years of marriage, Erin has served many roles in the funeral industry, assisting her husband. She has handled office management and accounting, family after-care, and provided vocal music for funerals. She assists Jody with funeral operations. Erin loves the beach, and goes when she can to indulge her other pastime of reading the latest mystery novel.
Jody and Erin have two boys: Kyle is a Woodruff High School graduate and college student, and Jace attends Woodruff Middle School and plays football for the Woodruff Wolverines. They are active in Cornerstone Baptist Church in Woodruff, and you can find them at any Woodruff sports activities. Both of their extended families still live in the Woodruff area.
